But no Georgian itinerary stops at Tbilisi: Mtskheta, Kakheti, Kazbegi, Borjomi, the Davit Gareja monasteries, Sighnaghi are all one-to-three-day loops from here, and those are the trips that actually need a car.

Where to collect your car in Tbilisi
There are three practical pickup options — the airport, delivery to your hotel, or a visit to the supplier's office in the city. Most travellers choose one of the first two.
Shota Rustaveli Airport is the most common pickup point. International chains (Europcar, Hertz, Avis, Sixt, Budget) operate desks directly in the arrivals hall. Local suppliers and aggregators meet you at the exit of arrivals with a name board — the car is parked 50 metres away. The meeting is coordinated by flight number; no shuttle buses, no waiting on the tarmac.
We meet clients by flight number and complete the contract quickly. They check the car and drive off while passengers at the international chain counters are still waiting for the shuttle to the remote parking lot.
Hotel or apartment delivery is the right choice after a late flight or if you simply don't want to drive straight off the plane. Within the centre it's usually free; outlying districts incur a $10–20 delivery fee. The supplier arrives at an agreed time and place, inspects the car with you and completes the contract on the bonnet.
City offices are the third option for travellers who prefer to pop in rather than be met. Suppliers cluster in four districts. Vera and Vake are closer to the centre, with many small family-run operators. Saburtalo sits next to the metro and major shopping centres. Didube is near the intercity bus station and popular for travellers who change their route on the ground.

Deze auto heeft onze vakantie in Georgië nog fantastischer gemaakt. We voelden ons erg veilig en vrij om te gaan en staan waar we wilden. We zagen prachtige landschappen, steden, dorpen en reden over verschillende soorten wegen en voelden ons de hele tijd veilig. Van zonnig weer in het drukke Kutaisi tot sneeuw en ijs op bergwegen bij Mestia: de auto bracht ons overal zonder problemen. Ook het ophalen in Kutaisi en afzetten op de luchthaven van Kutaisi was perfect geregeld met de mensen van de autoverhuur. Zeer goede communicatie. Bij een volgend bezoek aan Georgië zullen we zeker weer hier huren!

De service was geweldig, ik kan het alleen maar prijzen! Mensen waren erg aardig, alles was op tijd, alles was zoals afgesproken op de website (prijs, plaats en tijd, auto zoals afgebeeld/beschreven), auto was helemaal schoon (van binnen en van buiten), enz. Ik zal niet aarzelen om weer van hun diensten gebruik te maken als ik weer naar Georgia ga! Een klein puntje - de auto heeft onderhoud nodig omdat hij geïmporteerd is uit de VS en Subarus moeten worden aangesloten op een computer als je hem sleept. Omdat ze dit (waarschijnlijk) niet hebben gedaan, werkte sommige elektronica in de auto niet zoals het hoort - cruise control, rijbaanassistent en automatische lichtuitlijning werkten niet (al het andere was op zijn plaats!). Maar, zoals ik al zei, dit zijn kleinigheden - alle belangrijkste dingen in de auto werkten zoals het hoort (automatisch schakelen, motor, acpp, remmen, geen vreemde lampjes op het dashboard, etc.), geen vreemde geluiden van onder de bodem bij het raken van kuilen (soms is het onmogelijk om ze te ontwijken), etc. Dus de auto IS! Zoals ik al zei, ik zou zonder nadenken weer gebruik maken van hun diensten.

We huurden een Lexus GX470 voor 11 dagen, alles beviel heel goed! De auto werd op tijd op het opgegeven adres afgeleverd. Deze auto kan overal komen - we hebben er zonder problemen mee gereden op de wegen Ushguli - Lentehi en Okatse Canyon. We waren met 6 volwassenen plus bagage. Op extra verzoek werd er meteen een dakkoffer geleverd, zodat alle bagage er zonder problemen in paste. We raden iedereen deze huurauto aan!

Een auto accepteren: De voucherbrief had irrelevante informatie. Er stond duidelijk niet op dat ik contant moest betalen, maar de manager zei dat ik een cache nodig had, die ik niet bij me had. Normaal gesproken is het bij autoverhuur geen probleem om via de terminal te betalen. Uiteindelijk konden we betalen via een QR-code met extra commissie, maar dat kostte tijd en zenuwen. Bovendien had de auto een lek wiel, als we dat niet hadden opgemerkt, had het een probleem kunnen zijn. Uiteindelijk zijn we samen met de manager naar het servicestation gegaan en is alles in orde gekomen, maar ook min tijd en plus ongemak. Aan de positieve kant, bedankt voor de aflevering van de auto op het adres en de bereidheid om problemen op te lossen van de manager, goed, en in het algemeen begrijpen we dat alles gebeurt. Levering van de auto: Op het adres van levering was een woongebouw en het is niet duidelijk of we correct aankwamen of niet. We moesten bellen om opheldering te krijgen, wat ook vervelend is. Daarnaast moesten we ongeveer een uur wachten op een persoon die de auto zou meenemen, hoewel de tijd van tevoren was afgesproken. Min tijd, min zenuwen. Ook zei de manager dat de auto gewassen moest worden, hoewel dat niet in de voucher stond, hij belde nogmaals om het te verduidelijken en hij moest zelf overtuigen dat de boete voor het wassen ons onterecht was. Aan de positieve kant was de houding van de manager erg menselijk en hij wilde echt helpen om problemen op te lossen. Bovendien werd de borg meer terugbetaald, wat de transfersom dekte. Al met al kregen we de service, de auto was prima en veel ongemakken werden gecompenseerd. Er zijn veel vragen over de service, er is veel werk te doen, we hebben in verschillende landen auto's gehuurd en we hebben nog nooit ergens zo'n gedoe gehad, meestal zijn de processen goed geregeld.

We hebben deze zomer een Mercedes Vito minibus gehuurd. De service is uitstekend, we vonden alles leuk! De auto is comfortabel. We misten een adapter voor het opladen van mobiele apparaten en een aux-kabel om audio van een telefoon of speler aan te sluiten. Kortom - aanbevolen!

het ging heel positief! We werden opgewacht met een bord op de luchthaven, we kregen een auto in goede staat mee op de luchthaven, alle documenten werden ook ter plaatse ingevuld. We hebben de auto ook op het vliegveld ingeleverd, de inspectie was snel, geen ongelukken of excessen. Van kleine minpuntjes: 1. de tank was een kwart vol bij het ophalen van de auto. het zou erg handig zijn om bij het ophalen van de auto in één keer een volle tank te hebben. 2. het zou supergaaf zijn om via het snelbetaalsysteem te kunnen betalen, omdat ik de auto op deze manier vooraf heb betaald. Maar over het algemeen is alles heel cool en handig! heel erg bedankt!

If the car is only for Tbilisi and single-day lowland trips (Mtskheta, Sighnaghi, Davit Gareja), a saloon is enough — Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Sonata, Ford Fusion. An automatic matters more than the class: manual gearboxes on the climbs up Mtatsminda and in the Chavchavadze Avenue traffic wear you down.
The Tbilisi fleet mirrors the entire Georgian market. It's hard to think of a car class you can't find here. The only real limit is availability on a specific date, not the model itself.
For mountains and rough tarmac
For Kazbegi, Kakheti with an overnight, Borjomi and Svaneti in shoulder season a crossover or a 4x4 is more comfortable. Subaru Forester remains the signature Georgian rental: price, capability, reliability. Starts at around $30 per day in low season and is stocked by almost every Tbilisi supplier.

The most frequent technical mistake in Tbilisi is filling a Japanese hybrid (Prius, Aqua) with 92-octane instead of 95. The dashboard throws an error immediately and sometimes the car refuses to drive. Stick to 95 — it's available at all SOCAR, Gulf, Wissol and Rompetrol stations, which cover the entire capital and the motorways.
Wrong fuel is the top-of-the-list avoidable error in Tbilisi. We always ask renters to check the nozzle: yellow label for 95, green for diesel. That single habit saves us dozens of cars every season.
Further afield — in the same car
Most Tbilisi itineraries continue beyond the capital. Car hire in Georgia is the country-level overview with borders, seasons and general conditions. Car hire in Batumi is the Black Sea finish for travellers heading coastward. Car hire in Kutaisi suits those flying out on a European low-cost carrier. One-way drop-off across the country is a standard option.
