Autoverhuur beoordelingen in Antalya
A car earns its keep more obviously in Antalya than in Istanbul. The city isn't as dense, parking is easier, and distances between interesting points are short. A day at the wheel along the coast usually delivers more than a week confined to a single resort.
"Most clients in Antalya take a car for three to five days — to fit in the beach, the coast, and a day trip inland. It isn't a 'rental for the whole holiday'; it's part of the itinerary, and the choice of car follows from that."
There are several pickup options. Collect the car straight from the airport (AYT) by flight number. Pick it up at the supplier's office in town. Or arrange delivery to your hotel — particularly useful for Kemer, Belek, Side or Alanya, where the airport transfer takes 90 minutes to two hours.
If a car isn't needed for the whole holiday but only for a couple of excursions from the resort, hiring it situationally for one to three days works well. Each listing shows the conditions clearly: prices, deposit, insurance, reviews and real photographs of the actual vehicle.
If your route is already set, it's quicker to look at conditions on the dedicated page: car hire in Turkey for the country overview, rent a car in Alanya or hire a car in Bodrum — both natural extensions of a coastal trip.
"The Antalya coast is logically built for car hire: fewer traffic jams, better roads, simpler parking. The main thing is matching the class of car to the route you actually want to drive."
Where to collect the car in Antalya
Antalya has a single international airport — AYT. It's the most popular collection point: the supplier meets you by flight number, the contract is signed in the arrivals area or at the nearby parking, and there are no long shuttles or terminal transfers.
A second option is to collect from the supplier's office in town. That suits a trip where the first day is best spent settling into the hotel or walking around Kaleiçi without a car, with the rental starting only for the days you actually drive.
The third option is hotel delivery. For Kemer, Belek, Side, Lara and Alanya it's often the easiest route: the car is brought straight to reception and collected from there at the end of the rental, with no transfer back to Antalya.
When to book in Antalya
The Antalya region has a fairly predictable demand pattern. The peak runs through summer, early autumn and the main holiday weekends, when the coast fills up with visitors. In those windows, compact cars and minivans go first, and one-way rentals to Istanbul or Cappadocia are best booked ahead. Winter is quieter, prices are lower, and many travellers come specifically to Antalya for an extended winter stay with month-long rentals.
What to keep in mind on the road
The Antalya resort streets see plenty of scooter and motorcycle traffic, particularly in the evenings. They tend to weave between lanes and appear from the right with very little warning. On beach streets and narrow lanes, hold extra distance and check the mirrors before every turn.
"The most exposed area for a hire car along the coast tends to be parking near the beaches and the old town. Light scuffs on rims and bumpers happen more often in high season, which is why coverage is worth taking thoughtfully."
If something goes wrong on the road, as elsewhere in Turkey, it's safer to stay in the car rather than try to settle it on the spot. Move to a safe location and contact the rental supplier. If the situation is serious, call 112 and wait for the police.
For accidents — don't move the vehicle, take photographs and contact the rental supplier. A police report is required in Turkey for almost every incident; without it, insurance generally doesn't apply.

Veelgestelde vragen
Yes — hotel delivery is the most popular option for Kemer, Belek, Side, Lara and Alanya. The car is brought to reception and collected from the same point at the end of the rental, with no return transfer to Antalya needed. The delivery fee scales with distance but often costs less than a return airport taxi.
Around 240 km and 4 hours each way. A standard one-day trip with an early start. Parking at the Pamukkale-Hierapolis entrance is paid (~$5). Entry is $25 per adult, free for under-7s. Many travellers stop at the thermal pools on the way back.
Around 540 km and 7–8 hours each way. The route runs through the Taurus mountains and Konya. It works as a two-day trip with an overnight in Konya. An early start helps you cross the mountain stretches before the heat of the day. Full route plan is on our blog.
Kaleiçi runs as a paid İSPARK zone with fixed locations. Kerbside parking isn't an option — it's one of the most common spots for fines in the region. Planning straight for a paid car park and walking into the old town on foot is the practical approach. The old town itself is compact.
No — a standard compact or saloon with an automatic gearbox is enough for the D400. A crossover is more comfortable on the Taurus switchbacks and helps on gravel tracks down to the wilder bays, but on the main coastal stretch the difference isn't critical. A minivan is only needed for a larger group.
Yes — one-way along these routes is standard. The relocation fee depends on distance: typically from $200–300 for Antalya–Istanbul and from $150–250 for Antalya–Dalaman. Cars with this option go faster in summer, so it's worth booking ahead.
It depends on the class and the supplier. Economy cars usually start from $100, midsize $200–500, minivans up to $500. Several of our suppliers don't take a deposit at all, and others waive it when full coverage is taken. That option is easiest to set up at the booking stage.
Not with most local suppliers — debit cards are accepted online and the balance plus deposit can be settled in cash on arrival in USD or EUR. International chains at AYT still tend to require a credit card in the main driver's name, so it's worth filtering for local suppliers if a credit card isn't an option.
It depends on the format. If the trip stays within a resort, a car is often hired situationally — 1 to 3 days for specific outings (Pamukkale, the canyons, neighbouring towns). For routes along the coast or trips inland, the car is usually taken for the full holiday. Hotel delivery works either way.
Diesel is usually the better choice on long routes — lower price per kilometre and lower consumption. On Antalya–Kaş–Fethiye specifically, the saving is noticeable. Petrol is the standard for short city drives and situational rentals. There are plenty of stations on the D400, fewer between Kaş and Patara.
Fines in Turkey go to the registered owner — the supplier — and reach you after the rental, sometimes two weeks or a month later. Keeping the booking card active for a couple of months after the trip is sensible. Paying within 15 days online or through PTT earns a 25% discount.
Yes — typically 20 to 30 minutes from landing to driving away. The supplier meets you by flight number, the contract is signed in the arrivals area or the nearby parking, and there are no shuttles or terminal transfers. Most rental points are next to the terminal exit.
