Veelgestelde vragen
IST pickup is 24/7 via Meet & Greet in the arrivals hall. IST is on the European side, about 50 km from central Istanbul — roughly 45–60 minutes by car, longer in traffic. Share your flight number at booking so the pickup team can adjust for delays.
SAW pickup is also 24/7 via Meet & Greet. SAW is on the Asian side, about 40 km from Taksim and roughly 10 km from Kadıköy. It's the main hub for low-cost carriers (Pegasus, easyJet and others). Factor in Bosphorus bridge tolls if you're driving to the European side after pickup.
Pickup or delivery is available at any Istanbul address — Taksim, Sultanahmet, Beşiktaş, Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Levent, Şişli. Istanbul International Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) both support 24/7 pickup. The city spans two continents, so mention which side (European or Asian) when booking delivery.
One-way rentals between IST, SAW and Istanbul city pickup points are supported on many cars in our catalogue — often with no extra fee within the Istanbul metropolitan area. Cross-country one-way (e.g. Istanbul → Antalya) is available on some cars and carries a relocation fee shown at checkout.
Istanbul has three Bosphorus crossings — the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, the Fatih Sultan Mehmet (FSM) Bridge and the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge. All use HGS automatic tolls; a single crossing ranges roughly TRY 30–100 depending on the bridge. Tunnel crossings (Eurasia Tunnel) also use HGS. Your rental car's HGS tag handles all of this — you'll be billed after the trip.
Traffic in central Istanbul is heavy throughout most of the day, with peak hours (08:00–10:00 and 17:00–20:00) easily doubling travel times. Street parking is scarce; use hotel parking or paid lots (İSPARK). GPS rerouting is useful but be cautious: some Sultanahmet streets look drivable on maps but are pedestrian-only or too narrow for a sedan.
Istanbul → Antalya is about 700 km / 8–9 hours via the O-21/O-30 motorway. Istanbul → Bodrum is about 750 km / 9–10 hours via O-5/O-31. Both routes are HGS-tolled highways — expect total toll fees of TRY 300–500 one way. Overnight stops in Afyon or Denizli are popular for breaking up the drive.
For sightseeing in central Istanbul — Sultanahmet, Taksim, Beyoğlu, Kadıköy — a rental car is generally not the best choice. Traffic is heavy throughout the day, parking is scarce and expensive, and many historic streets are pedestrian-only. Public transport (metro, tram, ferries) and taxis reach all the landmarks quickly. A rental car makes sense when you're leaving Istanbul for a road trip — pick it up on the day you head out, not on arrival.
Istanbul traffic is intense: frequent lane changes without signals, aggressive merging, and roundabout rules interpreted loosely. Stay alert, keep a defensive distance, and don't assume pedestrians at crossings will be respected by other drivers. Speed cameras and radar enforcement are common on motorways — stick to the posted limit.
